why are coins priced different?
I tried searching but couldn't find an answer.
Why is there a different price in Maples, Britannias, GIM, etc... if they are all 1 oz coins? Shouldn't all 1oz silver 999 coins be the same price? |
Re: why are coins priced different?
The different varieties of coin have different levels of supply and demand, and thus have different prices?

Re: why are coins priced different?
Given the choice between a gift of a 2003 SAE and a 2003 Britannia which would you choose? One is common one is rare, hence the price difference.

Re: why are coins priced different?
I didn't know it was rare. That makes a difference.
So those are more for the collecting value then the actual silver melt price. I am not a coin collector. I just want pure silver. Whatever the cheapest coin is will be what I buy. That Britannia is beautiful though. |
Re: why are coins priced different?
Britannia's are limited mintages and the faces change pretty much vary every year. Because of that, they are more desirable and collected to make sets.

TomD, that coin is beautiful! I wonder if you can still get one.

If you are just after strictly silver prices you can go after generic .999 silver rounds. With the way things are right now...in my opinion anything under $15 IS A GREAT DEAL! |
